SELLING-HOSPITALITY

SELLING-HOSPITALITY

(& surviving the HoReCa industry)

After 31 years of rejection, as a career salesman that has sold any and everything in any and every business vertical and industry, I can confidently say that the Hospitality Industry is an extremely volatile segment to play in!

Why?  Because your clients are NEVER loyal to you as technology has made them impulse buy solutions that may seem cheaper on a mobile phone or a digital screen immediately BUT, are restrictive nightmares when one actually goes into the fine print. (that 100% of impulse buyers do NOT read)

The Hospitality Industry even pre-covid has always had a defensive-aggressive approach where they spend an immense amount in ridiculous marketing budgets to create repeat customers and get them to embrace their Brand loyalty schemes. (like membership value / discount cards)

Hoping to get a piece of the pie gigantic players from the financial segment also jumped in many years ago to try to support the Hospitality or HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants & CafĂ©’s) industry.  This has been a great help but at what cost because everything adds to the cost of goods sold that are in the end passed down to the consumer!

Having launched, introduced, created a demand and sold a HoReCa FMCG products for a major ISO pharmaceutical company, a bitter reality struck me that despite all our gimmicks and tricks of the trade the only way possible to ensure a solid sales pipeline is purely dependent on the entire industry working seamlessly together!

However, that does seem possible but NOT on such a macro level!  The main reason in my research I found out was an extremely fluid, erratic and treacherous army of worker ants in this hospitality colony! The frontline staff or your waiters, bar tenders, bus boys, concierge staff in fact everyone involved have gone into a survival mode and rather than focus on upselling / creating client repeat loyalty to the brand they work for, are only focused on the “tip” or basically the financial element.

For a quicker and maybe a few pennies more the front-line staff make a dash for the next best option and rather than appreciating their careers vertically they move laterally and basically jump from the frying pan into the fire professionally because the grass always looks greener on the other side!

As a business consultant that looks at everything from a sales perspective! Oh wait, I do not believe in marketing concepts as they do not guarantee any yield on the employers returns on their exiting investment to help them somehow curtail their cost of goods sold!

My sales approach, I find is better because first I bring in the cash-flow and then I request the board of directors or any organization to only limit their ad-spend to maintaining a humble brand presence!  To me, with the way the world economy is evolving I find that advertising which was a necessity in the 1990’s and prior to the digital revolution is no longer worth it!

Everyone or every brand is struggling to be noticed and Billions are spent globally try to do just that however, they seem oblivious to the fact that everyone is doing the same and there is so much electronic noise out there in cyberspace that any amount of budget becomes rapidly ineffective to gain a steady yield from the consumer market.

My solution is simple! One should go back to the core ethos of the industry, then their own brand, run a complete SWOT analysis on their entire infrastructure and tie numbers down to any solutions that one may present!

After that rather than implementing those solutions and begging the stakeholders for more funds to create funds (maybe) a sales approach needs to be identified.  Now here is where it becomes fun and odd enough simple!

I strongly advise my clients to disregard fancy marketing plans written by some college kids or graduates with virtually no street experience and street smarts and can only quote some archaic theories that Kotler’s or some other academic literature has fused into their way of thinking!

My approach is to take that entire marketing funds demand and hand it over to the HR department.  I always request my customers and clients to reinvest back into their HR department strengthen it and empower it to appreciate the existing workforce.  If your workforce is content (not happy) they will be the most loyal frontline soldiers that will do more than your bidding, and their redirected and invigorated focus to work as a team will be crucial and maximize your sales.

The day the HoReCa industry realizes that “people are sick and tired of all the gimmicks and crave for that personal touch” only then will they be able to understand that ‘people run businesses and industries and NOT big ad spends and unwarranted text book concepts!’

LINKED-IN-BLUNDERS

LinkedIn Blunders!

Stupid mistakes one should avoid!

Be Honest with your profile!
There is no point is lying or exaggerating!  It is a digital world and you will be caught some time or somehow and everyone has an immense number of enemies within their own friends.

Do NOT run around advertising that you are “seeking employment”
It does not matter how you word it – it just makes you look desperate!  Do not take others intelligence for granted – get a paid account and understand what your capabilities are and display those

Stop messaging people blindly that you do not know to buy from you (anything)
People get upset and angry! – First research them and their companies and do NOT send generic messages.  Be personal! This approach will get you further

Do NOT trash talk others or have a negative opinion about everything!
Be open minded and willing to learn – People do not like those who seem to know it all – it makes other people look at you like a lone wolf that is unable to be a part of a team

Ensure your dialogs / shares or posts are to the point and brief and NOT emotional!
People respect facts!  NOT emotions!  With facts you can put numbers to them – with emotions… well nobody would fund your idea if it did not have substantial figures with it!

Accept Defeat!
If someone knows more than you (even your competition) ensure you listen to understand – take the loss for the battle that day but armed with this new knowledge through listening to understand you can win the end war!

Do NOT add anyone and everyone you see online to piggy back on their fame!
Having a select group of LinkedIn contacts will help you immensely rather than having an army of opinionated people that will cause a distraction to your professional lives!

Beyond LinkedIn???
Do not rely on LinkedIn messaging alone – see the groups and in your own community / city and ensure you attend these gatherings!  Do not boast about how great you are!  Observe who will benefit you and understand their vision and passion (both professionally & personally)

Be Empathic!
In business there is NO room for emotion!  A client or your customer does not need tears and sympathy!  Once you have understood their issues – there is no point in going on about it because they already know!  It is highly disrespectful!  If you are intelligent then through all the observations and listening you will be able to deduct a sensible and non-emotional solution!

Never sell with Negativity!
You are already in the interview OR you are already with your client / customer!  So the tough bit is done!  Now you need to ensure you build on that!  Do NOT bad mouth the competition – never speak badly about the shortfalls of old vendors!  Do not make your prospect re-live the agony and pain!  Be positive and state what solutions you can bring to the table and what benefits you will deliver to them!  If it is a product or a service – no point in telling people about its features – they already know them!  Do always go on about the benefits that you will deliver!

2022-23-TRAVEL-TIPS

2022-23 TRAVEL TIPS

(Spend less - get MORE value!)

By: Amyn Ghulamali

The way the global economy is these days Travel & Tourism has been pushed aside so people can survive the rising costs of inflation.

People are now travelling only if required or not at all as what they feel is true.  It is ridiculously expensive in more ways than one!

Despite these societal reservations one can easily have a fantastic Travel & Tourism experience that is also economical as well if you follow my advice below!

RESPECT TIME - In the Travel & Tourism industry, be it corporate, medical, educational, cultural, luxury or whatever kind of travel you wish to do you should always keep timings / dates and preplanning your first priority for the best rates!

JOURNEY MIND MAP - Many people try to do everything or cram too many wishes hopes, dreams & desires into a weekend getaway that drives everyone insane and leaves them exhausted!

Before you decide upon a destination, first grab a pen and a piece of paper (going old school is the best).  Write down the reason you are going - then your destination and finally your budget.

Ensure you map out your entire journey on paper - go online and work out your options!  Then revisit this document 3 - 4 times with your edits and make your changes BEFORE you finally write it down on your computer.

Once documented ensure you do NOT deviate from your plan. (Changes to any itinerary once in execution is frightfully expensive later)

WHERE TO BOOK YOUR AIRLINE TICKETS? – Everyone establishes a business to make money!  Even the online portals do charge money and operate on a profit basis.

I find it less hassle free to take the time and go to one of the best local travel agencies in your own country and do your airline bookings from there.  I suggest this because most travel agents also provide tourist / medical visa assistance special insurance services and remove the hassle for you for a nominal fee.

Even the online portals will do the same – only that should you need support you will have to wait for a computer to respond when it does as they remove most of the human element involved.

Further to that when you book with a large or the best travel agency ensure that they can and will provide you with real time 24 hours 7 days a week client support incase you require it on any messenger of your choice.

My last and most important reason for telling you to bear the pain and go to a local travel agent is that all IATA approved travel agents globally have a direct link with the airline country head office and get your seat customized and add on many more benefits and if you have a good relationship with your travel agent it is possible to get a better rate for your travel and hidden seat availability.

All airlines authorize their country managers to extend discounts etc. if requested and justified by the local travel agents.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR STAYS? - Today people book online from any of the various travel portals thinking that modern day travel life is so easy & hassle free!

Myself being a tour and travel operator I have also used many online portals and I realized over the years that when a person travels blunders do occur.  I find that when booking via an online portal and one is travelling there are many further complications if the traveler is just your average ‘Joe’ that is not very tech savvy!

Normally customer support is not instant and if you have an international fight then you have an immense number of issues with real time answers.

My suggestion is to book your stay and tour directly with a well known or trusted Travel and Tour operator in that country!

I will use myself and my own company as an example!  At Ghulamalis Consulting here in Thailand ( www.ghulamalis.com ) when we quote a tour or holiday price to our direct international passengers for 5 star all inclusive deal at US $ 43 a day (with NO hidden charges) EVERYONE asks us ‘What’s the catch?’

Well, here’s the explanation!  Your tourism rates for Thailand (example only) in your own country will be inflated between 55% to 65% more than our rates because there are multiple vendors involved who slap on their own commissions (Hey nobody works for free – Not even me!)

Now when you book your Holiday with us being local we make our profit but pass on a real rate to you.  Further to that we assist you locally and have a complete support network to handle all your needs immediately thus giving you a further piece of mind that you will NOT get any hidden surprises as far as costs go!

PLANNING TRAVEL FUNDS THAT YOU WILL CARRY? – Even if you step outside the door of your home in your own native country – you spend money!  Be it filling fuel in your vehicle or paying for a taxi – you still spend money!

When one travels there are many instances that sometimes surprise charges hit you!  Many countries like Thailand are tourist countries however everyone is there to make money and if you do not have a local bank account then you will pay a heavy fee to use an ATM to withdraw money or do any transactions.

These charges will be an addition to the existing bank charges that your own  bank will charge you locally.  An honest real example is that Thai ATM’s charge Thai Baht 220/- per international transaction.  Wait it gets better… then you get charged all kinds of taxes in your own native country and some might even ask you for an explanation of your expenses if you are a tax payer!

Do bear in mind that the Travel & Tourism industry has changed immensely and now the BIG brands also prefer to deal in cash mostly.  In Thailand cash or a local card is preferred BUT how much can or will you carry?

First check with your own government as to what amount of currency will it allow you to travel with.  Unless you are travelling to more than one country please buy the local currency for the country you wish to visit.

Go to your local currency exchange and get the foreign funds locally in cash. (you will get a better rate locally)

What I do or my company Ghulamalis Consulting does is that after we have checked our passengers in.  We take them with ALL their physical cash and go to the bank.  Here we endorse and support our passengers with the local government so that they can get a local Thai pre-paid and secured debit card.

This way our passengers do NOT pay additional bank charges everywhere and are more secure because all their cash is with them all the time but safe!

In reality there is no point in buying US Dollars as you will lose in the end when you locally keep exchanging the dollars for your frequent requirements.

Remember, in any country you travel to for a holiday your safety and financial security should be the most important thing for you so you should ensure that!

There is a lot more advice I or my team can provide on how you can have an extremely economical 5 star holiday without stress and we would be happy to answer your questions.  All you need to do is connect with us – our contact information is provided here in this blog!

Thank you for reading this post and I hope you found it helpful in some way to plan your upcoming holidays in 2022-23.  If you need help (again) simply ask us!  We do not charge for our consultations!

Have a great journey and wishing you all the best for this Holiday Season and the year ahead to come!

Stay Blessed in every way!

FIN-TECH-FROM-A-SALES-PERSPECTIVE

FINICKY TECH
(Understanding Fin-Tech from a ‘Sales’ Perspective!)

About Me! – I have been in the world of sales since the past 31 years!  I have sold in every business vertical possible!  I enjoy selling technology the most as it is the toughest business vertical to sell!  I love challenges and there is nothing more difficult than a Tech sale.  But I love it!

I have a strong Tech Background and will not get into details but I have come to realize a few things about selling Fin-Tech!  I simply call it Finicky Tech!  My justifications are stated below.

Fin-Tech constantly keeps on evolving and is in some mode of eternal adaptation.  Within a nano-second what you have sold is archaic and you are a dinosaur because, some fifteen-year-old kid sitting in some backward country with no proper infrastructure just made your process better and more money from a ten second Tiktok video

Most of the times I come across some great ideas that are doomed to fail – if you want to succeed then maybe these pointers below will be able to help you.

Listen to understand your client, because I find that most client relations simply do not work when you do not have the ability to separate their needs from the wants!

Ensure your client has a solid business plan and has their own future mapped out on paper.  If you do not know the future desires of your own client – how can you sell them or their product?

If simple basic IT software’s / SAAS or Fin-Tech products or services have to succeed then this journey towards success needs to start well before the tech development and a proper strategic business plan needs to be written down.

A brand needs to be created on paper and re-drafted several times (but it will never be perfect) and room needs to be left for constant evolution.  Never take on a client that does not have a solid business plan.

If they do not have one or are having trouble keeping their sales numbers up, do not be impulsive.  Take your time develop your own plan FIRST once you have gotten all the knowledge about the business verticals and present it in writing to the client – never work without a written down plan.

Before you design a business plan do a simple SWOT analysis on your client – then find at least four or five competitors or me-too brands and run the same SWOT analysis on them HONESTLY for yourself (not the client) – Once you work out the flaws within your own client’s products / service and then objectively compare them with the competitors – the answers reveal themselves and your path ahead towards selling clears up a lot more.

AT THIS STAGE DO NOT BE TOO EAGER AND PRESENT YOUR RESEARCH FINDINGS TO YOUR CLIENT!My reason for this is that innovators are very egotistical with an inability to understand or even listen to anyone constructively criticizing their work!

Most companies start of on one path but compromise their values by simply selling out the core ethos due to financial concerns.  Most of their present concerns happened due to their own decisions for whatever reason they may be so they need help BUT are too afraid or ashamed to aske for it!

Forget Fin-Tech!  If you want to sell anything – have solid market research constantly going on – keep evolving NOT adapting – stick to the core principal matter at hand, always be patient and develop an ability to forget impulsiveness or money and stay focused on the client's  Macro picture (vision) at hand.

If you need any help to sell your Fin-Tech product – I would love to chat and maybe learn a few things from you as well!  Simply reach out to me!  (My contact information is given below!)

LISTEN TO SUCCEED

Listen to Succeed!

From the minute you are born you are basically a commodity that will be bought or sold at every point in your life (the value will be dependent on how you negotiate the terms and conditions!)

Why do I state this?  Because when you are born, the first thing your parents will do if you are the first child born in the house BUT a female born in a Muslim world, your family will “sell” you to the rest of the family for acceptance.

Then your parents sell you the biggest brand name schools to be accepted to become a modern day mindless robot like your other peers who at the same esteemed education establishment.  Then as you go to college or university one sells themselves in whatever way they can to be accepted and the same goes on towards employment or starting your own work!

Selling never seems to stop in your life and never will!  So, what will make you the best sales person ever?  (Both in your personal or professional lives) Let me show you how to be the best!

In life we make the biggest mistake about making life about people!  To survive and be the best in sales, you always should ensure that you are focused on the situation at hand and do not make things personal.

The only way one can make an unbiased, impartial decision about anything in their life is if one has the ability to be patient and listen with an intent to understand and an open mind about everything at hand no matter how bad or good it is.

Not money! Time is the most precious commodity today so why listen to people? (anyone) Because it helps you in every way possible!  Even at the time when in your personal life you decide to get married to a partner – if you do not understand them – your relation may be made by the parents but it will not survive!  The same goes for a marriage with your employer!

Every salesman knows what to say!  Rarely do you come across a salesman that knows exactly what NOT to say and when not to say it and when to listen. Now that person is a fantastic salesman not just good but more successful and in fact fantastic!

Here are a few pointers on how to listen – (Should you want a separate sales session with me please reach out directly to me via the contact information given below)

If you are in front of anyone you need to let the person finish speaking without interrupting them – Keep a pen and paper and take notes of what they are saying.  Ignore their wants – read between the lines of the message and identify their needs and understand the people and their business – understand your clients or audience because people run this world and not technology – if you do not listen you will never be able to develop empathy for the people you are trying to understand.

When your audience is done speaking you should wait several seconds before – responding – you need to respond and not react (there is a big difference between the two just like being happy or being content but you need to work that out)

Please ensure that you do not speak over the top of your audience or one another.  This pause will give your audience enough time to re-cap what they have said and maybe add on a few more details that will be beneficial to you!  Sometimes your audience might pause speaking for about 30 seconds or so because they themselves are probably re-capping what they said and if they have left anything further out!  If they remain silent expecting a response then the following is obvious

Your silence and taking notes will depict your seriousness and attention to the audiences’ issues with detail that will be deeply be appreciated as your audience will know you took the time to make your notes and inwardly digest the content your audience just shared with you.

When you allow the pause to occur it displays patience and respect because that means you are not impulsive rather very meticulous with regard to details of your audiences’ concerns.

LESS IS MORE! Every time I have trained people or business professionals on how to communicate in the professional lives or personal matters, I have always encouraged to cut the fat in the dialogue and written content and stick to the bare minimum that coveys the correct message.

I always advise people to reduce the amount of extra information that is not relevant, because if they do not, they often miss the chance of being taken seriously!  Impulsivity, emotions and assumptions along with poor communication abilities are a sure way to fail and not succeed in life!

If you would like help in appreciating your existing worth then do reach out to me with your concerns for a FREE consultation and let’s see if on  a phone call we can ensure growth, higher profits and more motivated people around you that will be loyal to you!

TURNING IDEAS INTO REALITY

TURNING IDEAS INTO REALITY

Everyone has “great ideas” but maybe 0.1% of them actually succeed!  Today the world has changed and everyone wants to be the next big thing!  Therefore, the mushroom growth of entrepreneurs over the past decade and a half just continues to grow because as long as humans keep having ideas.  The birth of more and more entrepreneurs will occur?

Another reason is that this modern lot is way more well informed and exposed to global affairs thanks to technology and the harsh reality that survival in this modern day uncertain savage economy is next to impossible by solely relying on their local college degree.

Back to the main subject!  Ideas fail for many reasons but if one follows these dos and don’ts then one might have more of a chance at attaining success in making a dream into reality.

  1. When you have an idea in your mind – write it down on a whiteboard and start with detailed research about the idea.
  2. Once your research about the idea you have is complete do a complete and harsh SWOT analysis and no matter what your gut feels rely on the data within the SWOT analysis.
  3. If the data makes sense in your SWOT analysis then run the numbers that you have from your research.
  4. If the numbers make sense and add up – now you can start on developing a complete mind map
  5. Once your mind map is complete – ensure you write down (do not keep things on a computer on in your head) a solid execution strategy – this should include everything to your launch (marketing / op-ex / sales / etc. everything
  6. The last document you need to have in your possession is a document that defines what your exit strategy is – where your sources of funding in the case of emergency will come from and how to protect yourself and your own business fail-safe measures

That’s it!  Now you can start implementing your idea into a reality.

Always remember that ideas are only good if there is a well thought out action / execution plan attached to them that mentions numbers.  Good luck on making your ideas into realities and if you need any free advice or help along the way – do reach out to me!

CHASING BRAND NAMES

CHASING BRAND NAMES

I strongly believe that God created man, Man invented technology, Technology made man forget about God and humanity thus turning man into a soulless robots!

Right from the minute even before one enters school the parents start brainwashing children about the importance of attaining a perfect GPA and then graduating from an Ivy League school.  Pretty often the parents define a career path for the said child and enforce a strict regime of studies and tuitions to ensure any and all forms of success.

Some parents even believe especially for their daughters that they must become doctors or have an esteemed profession so that she to the future mother-in-law will look more desirable only to be made into a maid and child bearing factory after the nuptials are done.

It is extremely sad that a child’s own vision and dreams are crushed due to the fact that the parents are trying to live out their own fantasies of unattained success through their own new generation.  The driving force often more as a weapon for the parents is fear, manipulation and emotional black mail.

Up until the year 2000 the world operated on a different philosophy where a brand name education mattered – After the tech revolution and especially social-media entering our lives everyone started chasing money because secretaries became useless, the company gatekeepers like telephone operators were jobless and due to co-working spaces professional privacy developed issues.

Does a brand name education matter from a top school?  In my opinion not really!  My reason is that when we enroll our children, we need to ensure patience and listen to them with the ability to understand their preferences.  Further to that we must respect their desires and guide them with positivity rather than shame them because they do not desire to follow our own dream of them attaining a degree in our field of choice!

I firmly believe that if a student is studying in the field of his or her choice and truly desires to follow a career path then they will do extremely well due to the push and pull factor aligning within their own mind and soul.

The same goes for a professional life that is apart from an academic life!  People go to work because they have to!  They have studied and attained a flawless 4.0 GPA from an Ivy league medical college only to be stuck in some developing country as a low-grade sales person in a pharmaceutical company… SO they do not perform well out of frustration and lack of interest.

As for me I love to go to work every day because I love to do what I do – sales!  So to me because I love to do what I do – I do it very well!  (No, I am NOT arrogant and have had so many failures in trying to please everyone that I eventually just gave up trying to satisfy an unhappy world)

My advice is you cannot predict the future…  and you definitely cannot make everyone happy so why not focus on your own self development and refocus your life and goals – write them down on a simple piece of paper – define the end result – then set smaller goals to attain that end result.  Your confidence will grow as you have these small victories.

Whatever you do, please do not make the BIG mistake of expecting too much from life or people because there is nothing much that you can control around you – only the way you are and whether you react or sensibly respond to situations.

Today when I have a professional dialogue almost 95% of the time people do not bother about the exact details of my college life and who my roommate was and how many times, I did my laundry.  As time is the most precious commodity today we immediately get to the point and discuss possibilities and solutions.  We avoid any negative personal dialogue which I also advise you to do.

Nobody wants to know your personal sad story because everybody has their own battle scars from walking their own path in this journey of life.  Please remember – even if you have not studied from an Ivy league school or college – all hope is not lost because you will win on your positivity and the ability to display your own best attributes that only you know!

As I close – PLEASE REMEMBER THAT
  1. Time is money today!  It is more valuable than money!
  2. Never lie as it will just complicate things further and a problem for YOU as it will one more thing to remember (the lie)!
  3. Do not be negative or degrade anyone to look good – keep it impersonal and be professional always sell yourself on your positive abilities!
  4. Have faith in your self and maintain your grace dignity and self-respect knowing your established boundaries and self-worth (As I salesman I get told NO a thousand times and rejected daily – BUT it’s the 1001 customer who says yes that makes it all worth it – so be patient and resilient!)
Don't worry... your time WILL come!

Good luck!  If you found any value in my blog – Please share it with your network!

INVALUABLE RESOURCES

INVALUABLE RESOURCES

Today most businesses are in a massive flux due to global economic uncertainty.  The west and Europe are worried about energy issues. The Middle-East is culturally confused as well as emotionally upset with certain forces and is struggling to liberate its self by aligning with forces more towards Asia and other regions.

Countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh and India that are caught in the middle and do not have such strong economies due to their own issues and external influences are very concerned about their own global futures as the dynamics of the world have change and are rapidly evolving but in what direction nobody knows.

Everything to the public behind what the media displays is based upon assumptions with the shifting of power and brokering of regional strength and strongholds between the west & the east.  In turn all the stock markets are shaky and even prod nations that host the colors red white and blue are terrified of a certain reality before them – “recession”!

Every organization today is struggling to maintain consistency on their diminishing existing return on investment whilst being unable to control their cost of goods sold due to unexpected realities that have had them in a fire fighting mode for the past fifteen years where they have had no vertical growth.

In these developing economies there is what is known as Black Money and most people in business being unable to declare those source of funds for obvious reasons have established a subliminal parallel economy that moves horizontally.

The same goes for todays’ most invaluable resources – “people”!  For the sake of an analogy if one simply looks at consumer banking one will see that at any given bank a branch manager will create a wealth pool for his or her bank and not be given any vertical growth or be rewarded accordingly.  Out of frustration and unable to protest they shift to another competitor taking the wealth pool with them and building it more and appreciating its value more.  Most of the time these same people will possibly even come back to the same employer at a much higher compensation package.

Now that was a REAL situation! But is this professional behavior practice correct?

Even in family-owned small medium enterprises the only ones that reap the fruits of everyone’s hard work are the owners and those who know how to navigate the politics of business and rather than focus on growth they are happy simply sitting behind a desk not being responsible for anything due to lack of motivation?  Thus, nobody grows only frustration.

Rather than hunt for inexperienced young graduates that blunder – companies need to re-invent their way of thinking and re-focus their core values and center them around people.  Money, social media, advertising, technology etc. do not run businesses people do!  If any organization wishes to succeed today it need to understand the most invaluable resource it already has in re-invest in them sensibly = “people” ! (This does not mean cash incentives or bonus holidays!)

In my opinion the most powerful department should not be a CEO or a COO – it should always be the HR or Human Resources Department supported by a strong learning and development policy.  In-fact the HR division should also have the power to dismiss any senior management (even the CEO) if found of mis-conduct and the HR department should only answer to a board of multiple people that cannot influence its decision.

Before making any business plan the HR department should be consulted always so that the company can be advised as to the actual cost of what their strategies will cost in human resources, time and money.  I have worked and consulted in HR and I find it extremely sad that ALL people in the organization (any company) treat the Human Resources department like a post office that they can use to do their dirty work.

People especially your existing Human Resource has something that nobody will have – it is experience of the markets – they only need to be trained by professionals that will teach them the modern-day skills focused around attaining and maintaining a steady ROI if not appreciating it!  - If a company will have faith in its HR division and entrust it to deliver quality then it will – ONLY if give true and absolute autonomy to operate freely.

If a organization is unable to meet its targets financially, then rather than terminate its exiting market experienced non-performers and hire inexperienced text book smart college graduates that smell good they should have the courage to accept the reality of the here and the now that the world has evolved and time and people are the most invaluable resources globally today!
