GODS FAVOURITE LOTAS

GODS FAVOURITE LOTAS

Ok so when you wake up today you would be excited and scared about what 2014 will hold for you!  Some of you would be terrified with a common question ‘Did I promise that?” (to myself in the emotional uproar at midnight last night to myself.)  That is why Hazrat Ali (A.S) says to never make a promise when happy and never judge anyone whilst upset (loosely translated).  Thank God that all the drama and fuss is somewhat over about New Year night.

What I find hysterical is that we always have something to keep us entertained enough to throw the focus off the Macro picture of the country at hand!  It can be using our money to give Laptops to college kids, using our money (again) to give free rides to the entire world for 30 days in Lahore on Red buses or maybe even use our money (us tax payers of course) to throw up a wall in Clifton and flush 200 odd businesses down the toilet or even for that matter inconvenience 30,000 odd residents for that matter.

We say we hate Lucifer or Iblis or Satan or well the devil but do we realize that the devil was God's favorite angel once too before he became what he did?   Likewise God has his favorites that come and go as far as our local politics go and when they are in power they are in the best of health and when they fall from grace these angels suffer very bad health.   But this post is not about the politicians that fall ill rather it is about us as a completely “Lota” awaam that have no loyalty to anything whatsoever.

I know so many affluent people who were “directly or indirectly” related to Mush and wanted to be the one’s who would get things done from Isloo because Mush’s driver aunties cooks sala was close to their mothers!   Then these same mothers became very cuddly with anyone who had an ajrak and a topi.  Now I am hopng we have a lot of green star marketing and Marie Stopes offices opening up soon because these moms are really fond of nihari and sajay payas and speak in fluent punabi only…

Come on people have some loyalty to something if anything then your own religion because we all know what Pakistanis love to use a lota for! Enough is enough!

GOTCHA

GOTCHA!

Why have I posted a picture of a urinal on 1st Jan 2014 and written about it?  Because its totally weird.  Half of you are lost in translating thoughts into words and the last thing you have on your minds is work but here's some food for thought for you!  Ok now you know I am as ridiculously “different” as they get and always look for something unique & interesting to write on so here goes!

Advertisers struggle to get the undivided attention of the mindless awaam on television and the thumb when connected to a remote control is their most feared opponent because the minute advertising starts hum suffer karnay kay bajai doosray channel pay chalay jaatay hain as far as our mind goes…  The world is tired of this ridiculous hammering of nonsensical plagiarized totally bad advertising.  The question is how does a company keep a person’s attention focused to get that 30 second message across?

Now you may laugh your hearts out but this is truly a unique way to advertise a product!  “Public Bathroom & Urinal Stall advertising”…  Guess what? The person is not going anywhere and due to the people around them the last thing they want is more added pressure that they will have to release socially or professionally if they are on a cellphone.

I found this at the Avari Lahore tonight when I was a prisoner to Mother Nature’s demands for 30 seconds.  I found it welcoming to watch anything other than the guy next to me and try to nod or start up an uncomfortable conversation…  Honestly I think that Brands can do focused advertising like Gillette for men in the Male stalls & Fair & Lovely for women in the Female stalls…

Laugh at me for all you want but guess what…  For that 30 seconds to 5 minutes you ain’t going nowhere so might as well be entertained…

Well done Avari Lahore – Verrrrry innovative!

5 LESSONS FROM 2013

 5 LESSONS FROM 2013
If you are a resident of Karachi then most of you in the office are texting, tweeting and face booking today with regard to finding a safe venue to close this year and welcome 2014.  You will be struggling to make it onto the A list of a party or a venue that will be supposedly cool.  In reality you will probably end up at a joint filled with approximately 2,200 of those people who could not afford in some way to have run off to Dubai and will exhaust what is left of their plastic credit bank of emotions upon you to try to live under the guise of how rebelliously clichéd you all are for the matter of the 180 minute period that you will spend trying to drink watered down promises to meet the very next day spiked with fake hugs and alcohol breath kisses.

When you wake up at any given time on the 1st of January 2014 you will start a New Year with probably Alka Seltzer, Panadol & if you are a woman then you can probably add on a “morning after pill”.  I guarantee you that by the 5th of January you would be regretting having been caught on a mobile camera in some compromising situation or position that will make you the subject for some coffee table discussion till the 9th of January after which you and the world will force itself to forget the night of 31st December 2013 and promise to never mention what happened that night ever again on social media.

To me 31st December means a chance to repent, regret, realize, evaluate and inwardly digest how my life has been as a member of society and as a human being!  These are my five resolutions that I have derived for myself for the year 2014 from lessons that I learnt from 2013.

  1. I will tear down all the walls of insecurity that I have had surrounding me - which have made me have one regret and that is not to have trusted the right people at the right time. (family)
  2. I will come closer to myself and forgive myself for all the guilt that I carry – no longer will I allow society to dictate to me what is right because I will not let it emotionally blackmail me socially.
  3. I will understand the value in those around me before I judge them in any way – I will work on intellectual fair security personally and not judge people rather listen to them and understand the underlying message before I give a reaction or a rebuttal to anyone specially my elders.
  4. I will patiently humble myself before God – I will try to accept that God makes things happen for a reason and whatever happens is because I played a part in it also for the betterment of my life and await patiently to realize the reason for the happening.
  5. I will overcome my fear of the unknown with trust – I know that irrespective of what curveballs life throws at me in these unpredictably volatile times as a Pakistani I will try to trust the world because my parents had the faith to trust me as an adult that has the capability to survive tomorrow.

I do not know what goals you will set to define 2014 for yourself but I would advise you that on the 31st of December you should spend it with very special people that will never abandon you irrespective of what odds you will face tomorrow because emotional and financial inflation is really going out of control.

Family is everything so forgive and forget and move on with a firm grip on a promise to yourself that you actually are a fantastic person that does not need to carry over emotional luggage from 2013.   When the clock strikes midnight pop the cork of the bottle of guilt champagne you have been burdened with carrying in 2013 and walk away from society and embrace yourself and your family.   Make 2014 special…  Make it about you!

DROPPING THE WALL

DROPPING THE WALL

Ok now let’s get something really straight…  It does not matter if you are the Imam of any given Masjid, you are a 4 star general, a politician or whatever awesome post you hold but the minute you start bashing someone that is six feet under (dead) you basically have stooped to the level of a schmuck!  If you are using that person, entity or organizations name to move the masses emotionally then you are worse than a schmuck and a million times lower than what I call a complete cretin!

For decades ever since the war cry became “democracy” every cleric and politician has turned the Noor and the sanctity found in the word “Allah” to mold the minds of the masses and use it for sectarian violence, suicide bombings and what not!  Also overly emotional people keep saying that “BB” would have wanted this or BB would have wanted that!  It is wrong in Islam to speak behind anyone’s back and it is terrible to assume and base any form of judgment without getting the facts right from the source its self.

The problem with democracy in Pakistan is that the leader is awesome and has a fantastic vision for the country.  If you sit with Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari or even Gen. ® Musharraf you will distinctly see that their vision for the country is fantastic.  When you talk to each of them you will note that each of them is extremely honest when it comes to patriotism and that their souls are NOT corrupt.  What happens when the vision is passed onto to the entire government is a different matter because inflation, politics and diversity dilute the vision and personal agenda’s corrupt the original bigger picture.

Just sit down at boat basin one day when you have time between 8am to 10 am and you will see all these kids who show up in their hopped up civics leased by daddy who is struggling to make ends meet and pay off the debt he is in.  If you observe the conversation you will realize that the next generation is so used to clichés, brand names and name dropping that they are the perfect robots that will destroy any form of culture or values we call Pakistani or Islamic.  This does not only apply to the Burgers from Defense it also is very predominant in the Bun Kabab on the wrong side of the bridge where the Burgers call their idols “Mr.”  the Bun Kabab’s refer to them as “Bhai’s”

Now down to the core issue.  If you believe after reading the Holy Quran that any form of internal or external violence is wrong then you must agree that “Suicide bombings & terrorism” is not the way or the path defined in the Holy Book of Islam laid out for any Muslim.   If you agree with this then I must state something to appeal to your common sense and that is that the late Benazir Bhutto (a truly fantastic person whom I have met on multiple occasions) was the most documented Prime Minister of Pakistan.  Being the first Muslim woman to have become Prime Minister and also being very pretty she was always what the camera loved to capture.  It did not matter if this wonderful mother, wife or politician was in or out of power her whole life was documented beyond belief by international press bodies and news agencies that are extremely credible.

Now if I am still on a roll appealing to your “common sense” then I want to ask you to realize one thing.  There was only “ONE” idara that had the “Bhutto” name on it and that was a college SZABIST.  Whilst our Pakistani Princess was alive nothing was ever named after her.  Sadly when she died it seemed to me that PPP made a mandate to conveniently change the value in the legacy and branded the hell out of the following words “BB, Bhutto &b Benazir Bhutto”.  Having met the late Benazir Bhutto on several occasions one would realize that she was a very humble charismatic mother who had a firm grip on family values and fought for women’s rights.  That is why in her time when she was alive and a valuable addition to society she never allowed her name to be mis-used.  The reason was because “BB” openly declared that she wanted a better Pakistan and not one built on any form of Peeri Mureedi as that was wrong from an Islamic perspective as well so she lived by example and did not allow the respect in her Blood line (family name) to be tarnished.

Forget your emotions because this is not about a government or its corrupt low level officers Kapish? Or should I say Khappay?   This is about the value and respect that I have for a deceased mother who I respected so much for bringing Pakistan out of the dark ages because she had the courage to keep fighting for what she thought was right and live by example.  If you challenge what I am saying then please scroll up 4 paragraphs to re-read what I stated about the leadership vision.

The Clifton “wall issue is completely ridiculous because we have archives from the international press that show that “BB” sahiba wanted to add to the value of society and not destroy any form of life around her.  In the archives you will see that when her name was attached with the word “revenge” a lost political party to stop its self from self-destruction because it had no leader or so it thought.  Abandoned the likes of a fantastic person (Amin Fahim) and went onto build their own versions of “what BB would have wanted!”

If you want to know what BB would have wanted then stop listening to these clowns who thought they knew her over a speech that they attended.  The late “Benazir Bhutto” wanted what her father’s vision was and today if you are unable to find anyone who says they are her true friend then you should go “old-school” and sit with the likes of Makhdoom Amin Fahim and some of the originals who were there when PPP was formed and ask them what Bhutto wanted!  If you don’t and will take a placard and stand at Bilawal House (NOT BB PALACE) totally ill-informed of the facts then you might as well strap on a RDX laden jacket and walk into a masjid to listen to a khutba from a corrupt sell out cleric in Afghanistan…

Today you are educated so use that social and book smart education to not get attention and get media air-time – use your social wisdom to bring down the walls created by an insecure society.  What wall you will bring down after you read this will lie entirely in your hands because you are the most beautiful creation of God and you are free to choose…  so use that gift from Allah and choose correctly!
