AMYNS 2024 GUIDE TO GETTING A JOB

AMYN'S 2024 GUIDE TO GETTING A JOB!

Situation Overview - The most important commodity today is time!  Your window of opportunity is barely 3 seconds.

Why? – The average recruiter that sits on the front line of any company or organization in the Human Resources department is extremely overwhelmed by the volume of applicants that flood their individual inbox. That’s it!

No need for reasons! This a fact!

The Solution – Every blog endlessly rambles on about the problem. Let’s be to the point & positive and focus on the solution.

I have laid out some pointers that I feel could add value to any person looking for any kind of employment today, & that too at any stage of their life!  Perhaps a few fresh graduates might find some of this information valuable.

Be different!  Most people that apply for jobs use a hard sell push approach by trying too hard to embellish their past achievements. Nobody needs that!

I suggest using a ‘to the point’ approach!

Have two documents ready, the first is a ONE PAGE ONLY brief RESUME. That’s it! – Rather than elaborate on how a format should be I have provided my own format (here below) that seems to be very effective in getting the attention of Recruiters, Head Hunters & even Corporate Profilers looking for consultant for their clients.

The SECOND document should be a detailed to the CURRICULUM VITAE – I will not display my own CV here for the following reasons

  • I am not selling ME
  • You know yourself best so only you can write specifics about yourself
  • You need to do this in your own style because if called for an interview and you cannot walk the talk you had written about you in your CV – well that will be very ugly!

In this SECOND document CURRICULUM VITAE ensure you focus on how you can add value to the employer in that job advertised and then YES by all means quote examples of past achievements that they may verify (and they will because if they have come so far and invested so much time - they will want to not waste any more)

Please ensure that you are brief in your details and that, your CURRICULUM VITAE does not extend beyond two and a half A4 sized pages.

Also, do not oversell yourself and make sure you keep some information within you  and don’t write it all down because when you get an interview call you can add more from the information you did not share and increase your own instant value & stand out from other applicants.

Everyone knows how to make an initial impact in their own style, & everyone sells themselves, be different be honest, be into the employer and engage in a dialog, I assure you that your interview time will be far more than what is allocated to the average candidate.

Ok! Let’s stop one minute! – (Go back to before step one!)

Dear Jobseekers understand this (common sense) Today is the day of technology, I told you that the most precious commodity today is Time but now I will tell you that most precious commodity that you buy & traded is NOT crypto – it is information (data mining)

So basically, when you copy one million HR company email addresses and start emailing all of them with Dear HR Manager, I am so desperate for a job but really very lazy to see if is a job that I can actually do or am qualified – you go on a list & now I presume common sense kicks in here! (Back-end algorithms)

When applying to any company – read the entire job post – make sure you apply to the specific job and make your application specific – make your subject line different and something that job needs – if you take the time to invest in selling only yourself to a potential recruiter or employer you will get the same form of professional respect in return & I assure you of that.

That’s it!  I can only guide you how to get your foot in the door and help you get in the room, how long you stay in that room is your own doing!

Understand these brutal realities I have presented here, BEFORE you venture out on a job-hunting crusade.

1.    There is no vertical fiscal growth, only a horizontal shifting of INCREASING circular global debt

2.       The words economies are NOT in growth mode they are all in survival mode

3.       There are massive shifts in all the for-ex markets & trade platforms across the globe

4.       Irrespective of what white veil of denial we shroud it with – Global inflation is at a RAPIDLY RISING ridiculously high rate

5.       Today there are more fresh college graduates that are doctors resorting to street crimes due to unemployment only to survive and fed their families

I am NOT trying to scare you!  This is a brutal situation update reality check!

So, if you have a job, then my suggestion is please be honest to yourself and only your job NOT your employer boss or manager.

If it comes to cutting workforce – if you demonstrate you can add value – you are safe – so forget anything toxic – only focus on the job description and terms of employment in your employment contract & that’s it!  That is all any employer wants!  Efficiency! It helps control the cost of goods sold today!

Stay Blessed & Good Luck!

AMYNS-GUIDE-RELOCATING-TO-THAILAND

AMYN’S GUIDE - RELOCATING TO THAILAND

By: Amyn Ghulamali

If you would like to relocate, retire, work or conduct business in Thailand then you will find this guide extremely helpful.  As someone with first hand experience, this is the best guidance that I fell could benefit everyone.  (Please note that the content below is updated only till the date of publication of this post – if you want more specific details then please contact me directly through email) – amyn@ghulamalis.com

WHY THAILAND?

The country, thanks to its national flag carrier Thai Airways is the major connecting hub for travel in the region.  Everyone, mostly connects through Bangkok to other countries in the region.

Here you have all kinds of vegetables & fruits and lovely scenery, & the weather is awesome. The people are lots of fun and liberal.  They really don't care what you do as long as you don't upset society and chill out.

When it comes to work the men are eager & willing to work & learn also to help you succeed as they believe that if you as a foreigner are making money in their country then their whole economy benefits. The ladies are equally strong to help an eco-system where everyone makes money.

The economy is simple & affordable based on the principles of humility and no credit only get what you can afford & the ASEAN REGION is the next big thing as it is a conglomerate of many power economies (including super powers that be) who are more efficient in production & innovation & can control their cost of goods sold.

The Thai exchange rates are stable, their banking processes are clean and clear and simple, even though bound by strict regulatory bodies that stop any form of financial problems whilst in the middle-east there is constant drama due to a culture and a people dependent on the US Dollar and geo political stability that leave the region in a perpetual state of uncertainty. The volatile environment basically fueled by emotions / strange customs & a dual Shariah (Islamic) system that seems biased to the hosts and often confuses & scares some foreigners away.

The Big Apple (Manhattan Island) was known as the melting pot of the world – I guess we can call Thailand the new melting pot of the world because of the peoples acceptance of any and all forms of diversity as long as it is not forcefully imposed upon others or cases a threat to the safety of the people or the environment and does not belittle their culture, religious & ethical beliefs.

Forget business, this country is a fantastic environment for your children as kids have this ability to inwardly digest information more rapidly than adults. When they graduate from university, it really will not matter where they graduated from as employment opportunities are reducing rapidly due to the reality of evolving technology around us.

What will work for any college graduate is the ability to communicate with people in the future in their own culture and language so if your children know the languages & the culture, they will be one step ahead of everyone else in any professional environment.

I could go on, but the list of benefits would be endless, so let’s move onto another topic that I believe would be simpler & easier to understand.

HOW TO RELOCATE TO THAILAND - (Simple guide for dummies!)

I have consulted with many people & guided them over many years & the most irritating sentence I painfully smile at is; “My buddy / uncle / relative / friend / brother etc. did this or that!”

People seem to fail to understand that even if you have five fingers on one hand, they all serve a different purpose.  In my career as an international consultant operating out of mainly the middle-east, UK & Europe and then the two American continents over many years often I have come across cases that are identical but the government requirements may be different due to technicalities or the date of your application as the laws could have been revised along with the policies of the government.

Unlike the middle-east there is a hassle-free no drama at all process where  the requirements are technical (NOT complicated) and all you need to do is go directly to the government it’s self – (Official website of the Government of Thailand that will answer any and all questions you have or need - https://www.boi.go.th) the government website is in Thai as well as English and covers any detail you would need.

Do not go running to the first answer from an advertisement off a Facebook or social media post no matter how official it may look. Only rely on the Thai government and the information it provides directly from its website.

Even if you have visited this wonderful country several times as a tourist or for other reasons and you have so called friends or buddies here, my advice to you is to sit down and make a 5-year plan for yourself.  (Too much of any good thing can be bad for you so what do you want to do here when you relocate) Make sure you have three solid plans for yourself that are separate and then four more back up plans. A total of seven plans for the next 5 years of your life.

Ensure you put in the income you have and will bring with you and run a conversion to what you think your cost of living will adding a margin of at least 27% appreciation to your cost of living annually. (Yes 27% - why? – after Covid Thailand is now rapidly appreciating in value and you need to factor the tourist sporadic cash injections into the economy)

After you have completed these plans on a computer – let them be for two weeks and not look at them.  After two weeks go through them and add any requirements or remove anything you would not need and finalize it.

After that, plan a 30-day trip to Thailand but come here with an intent to be serious and keep a budget of approximately $US 4,200/- this will only cover the cost of your hotel, food & transport within the country so that you can take your time and meet with government officials and people & you need time for that.

(The US$ 4,200/- stated is an expected average cost for 4-star comfortable living in a studio apartment with breakfast in the main Sukhumvit (business/ tourist) district of Bangkok – this quoted estimated average cost does NOT include the cost of a return flight.  The cost of any parting you wish to do is also NOT included. (If you are here for a business purpose, or for the purpose of having a better future then I recommended you be serious and do NOT party at all)

When you are in Thailand you may visit any accredited law-firm (there are many and their reputation precedes them) & consult directly with the lawyers that will help you.  Do not worry about language issues or problems because most of the accredited and respected law firms that have a good reputation publicly also have English speaking staff. (Basically, they have lawyers that are from the best foreign universities that can communicate in many languages)

Once you have gotten your information and understood that you only made seven business plans for yourself BUT there are so many more options that are affordable and easy to understand for you, I am sure you will want to commit to the new dream within your reach. But STOP!

Pack your bags & go home.  Then sit down once at home and re-work all your finances because this life will be a commitment and you are no longer in a college frat house embellishing the bank of dad where you only make withdrawals 24 hours of the day.

If you have already decided and sorted your financial planning then ok proceed with the process of setting up your life in Thailand whilst you are in the country to save time.

If you have not sorted thing out then GO HOME. It will be less emotionally & financially expensive to go home than to sort your stuff out remotely.  (Speaking from experience)

When you come back to finally start your process to stay make sure you have a budget for 90 days set aside so that you are not a parasite on yourself or society and can pay for your own way.  Nobody will help you so keep that fact in mind as with the global economy being volatile after the Covid pandemic everyone and every company is in survival & NOT growth mode!

There are many businesses that a foreigner can do / invest in and the best most update resource for this direct and authentic information is (Again) – Official website of the Government of Thailand that will answer any and all questions you have or need - https://www.boi.go.th

If you would like my personal guidance or advice as a foreign consultant that knows the middle-east & ASEAN country regulations then please understand that I work along-side accredited law firms only because they are licensed by their respected governments such as Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia etc. that are welcoming foreign human resources (technocrats) & business investors

PROFESSIONAL-MIGRATION

PROFESSIONAL MIGRATION FOR DUMMIES

Everyone desires, money, success, prosperity, wealth and most of all financial stability.  People only seek alternative revenue incomes outside their own comfort-zones when situations become unfavorable for them to earn a stable income in their own home countries.
The many global factors and changes in business dynamics including the ever-increasing cost of goods sold and unstable returns on existing business have made the job markets very unstable and volatile.
In the past year alone, (2022) there has been a huge cross border migration by many entrepreneurs, technocrats, & professionals seeking better income from foreign market potentials.
If you desire to have the same then you are not alone.  This guide will help you in establishing your own company set-up in a foreign country.  Clearly mapped out in this post are the do’s and what you should be aware of before you decide to venture forth.  If you need any further clarity then you can visit my own consulting website that further defines many factors that you will seek clarity for. – www.ghulamalis.com

The Benefits

If you establish your own company outside your home country then you automatically gain an international status.
Professionally, you do get the financial respect that you should deserve because most foreign economies value time over money so all you need to do is work smart vs. work hard.
Your income potential is more stable and appreciated with direct payments in foreign exchange that do not affect your existing tax status in your own home country.
You further have the ability to reside and work in a more stable economy and environment that will support you in more ways than economically.

Warning!

The grass always looks greener on the other side.  Do not go for a quick fix option!  Quick money, can cost you a lot and quick income goes quickly.  When considering another country to establish your business always make sure you look at what the negatives are and when and where you will get stuck.
Many countries present illusions of wealth through illusions and dreams stating that the investment you will make will better your life.  In reality there is always some catch (where they  have the upper hand) and you as a foreigner are weaker when it comes to any form of disagreement.
If you are having a hard time in your own country you need to understand that global economies have changed and so have earning potentials.  Every country is a sovereign nation that is meant to serve its own citizens alone.
People seek alternative nationalities not realizing that nothing comes for free and there is a cost involved in some way somehow.
This latest marketing gimmick used by many countries of selling passports and citizenships may promise you immense fortune but you should always ask your self “why would a nation sell it’s own citizenship if it is doing so well economically and has financial stability?”
Before deciding on a country to venture into to set-up your own company, or even a job, always look at the emotional, and mental cost as well not just the financial costs involved.

Before you decide the country

Constitutions & the laws that define what you can and cannot do of a country are always formed upon common sense and the local culture and not emotions or desires of the wealthy.
Laws are created to protect the country’s own citizens and not the world.  The country ensures that its legal system will also support its culture.  For example, if you work in the GCC region or a country that follows Islamic ideologies then know this that you will have to deal with a dual legal system that will involve the Islamic Shariah law as well.
This can be quite confusing for many people when they need legal help or have any problems.  GCC economies like the UAE that promise you a better life or future, in reality make your rent a life of insecurity where the locals always hold the power to decide your future depending upon their mood or emotions at the time.
Before you decide the country you want to relocate your business or job life to always ensure that you clearly understand the civil and the penal code of the country.  If it has a Shariah law attached then please also ensure you find an accurate translation and spend money on a lawyer that can and will explain everything to you clearly.

What you should NOT do!

When you decide on a country, do NOT go for the cheap quick option like a local partner.  The seven deadly sins always hurt us and since people have emotions, when it comes to business greed, and vanity always hurt earning potentials for all.
You might be required to pay a fee as these locals don’t really work and have a lot of companies they sponsor to get their own earnings from and only value money and have no regard for humans in reality.
As longa s you keep up your payments to work, you are fine.  If you go broke, they simply jail and then humiliate you by deporting you.
If you start making a lot of money, your local that you pay money to, will automatically show up at your door to get his or her own bigger share from the work you will do!
So, pay more & secure your own future as an independent entity and do not go with a local partner.
Avoid economies where corruption is normal.  Once you give a bribe, you always have to pay because greed has no end to it.  There is corruption in every economy and country whether you like it or not.  You just need to know which country will suit you best and be the lesser of all evils presented to you.

The Reality!

If you desire a place in heaven upon death, then you yourself have to actually die for it!
Nothing in life is easy, but you can learn from the experience (mistakes) of others and ensure you know what NOT to do and what you should expect.
There is no place like home, but when in Rome, do as the Romans do and leave your old habits of the culture you come from back home and do not carry them with you.
One should always retain the base values they were brought up with that are positive, however understand that no matter what your destiny (future) has been written by God, only you decide your own fate, through the decisions you will make.
Good luck and I wish you well!  If you would like any further, help or advice, do see my website – www.ghulamalis.com
